Now that the Volvo system is almost finished, a few rattles and squeeks to iron out. I''m turning my atention back to my first "love", my CRX Vtec Type R. I''m still not entirely sure what will go into this system, although I''ve had initial discussions with Andre and Coerd. Unlike the stealth system in the Volvo this will be VERY MUCH Show My Sound, as the car is permenently locked-up in a security garage, so prying eyes ain''t a problem, they''ll only be able to pry when the Rex appears at shows! |

A few other changes are planned, including a new Chromo-flair paint job, but I''m going to have to wait ''til the finances are a bit more settled after the cost of the Volvo. But it WILL happen ... sometime soon! |

Well, what can I say about the engine bay! Estimated at 210-215 horse power, the work done involved uprating the engine''s internal parts, Type R camshafts and valves, a new chip (rev limited to 9,000rpm!), lightened flywheel, race gearbox and clutch, race suspension (you can run over a Euro (!) on the street and feel through your butt whether it''s heads or tails!!!), strutbrace and uprated anti-roll bars, gas-flowed manifolds, no catalyser, etc., etc., etc. I hope to instal a new engine, imported from California and fitted by Jim at Hyperformance Tuning, Brielle, Netherlands. This engine will be something VERY special, comprising of a complete new B16A engine with some EXTREMELY serious bits! ;-) |

The latest incarnation of my car''s cockpit, seen here in her full ''glory''! Focussing in first on the removable Sparco Extreme 2 steering wheel with 4 buttons (One for the Nitrous Oxide, One for the Car-to-pit Radio, One for the Hi-lift Widget Attentuator and One for the Pit Lane Speed Limiter ...) Okay, I''m Lying, they all work the Air Horns, but Hell!, it DOES look pretty cool!!! Elsewhere you can see REAL Carbon Fibre everywhere; the dashboard, the Sparco pedal set, the Tenzo R handbrake and, of course, the leather and alcantara re-trimmed Sparco Pro 2000 Carbon Fibre Racing seats ($$$$$$$!!!). Glancing around you can also spot the S-Racing Drilled Alloy Gear Shift Lever, the Starter Button (An original S2000 one!) in place of the cigarette lighter (at 250 km/h who the f!*k wants a cigarette!!!), the 6-point Sparco Pro Racer Seat Harnesses, the unbeatable Alpine CDA-7944R Head Unit, the obligatory "WWW.SHOWYOURSOUND.NL" windscreen sticker, single wiper conversion, the passenger side kick panel containing the DLS Ultimate tweeter and soft dome mid-range and topping the list of "must haves", not one but TWO Ambi-Pur Air Fresheners!!! |

A nice close up of the kick panel installation, featuring my DLS Ultimate U65 3-way front set. The kick panel''s consist of the DLS reference tweeter and the 4" Soft Dome Mid Range, whilst the 6" Mid Bass is contained in the OEM Door Panel. This has given the system a VERY nice, well-rounded soundstage, with bags of kick bass. These will remain in place, no matter what I''m going to do with the rest of the system. One slight drawback in the fitting was the removal of the driver''s side foot rest, as the pods couldn''t physically fit in the space ... so now racing boots are mandatory, not JUST for "the pose" ... ;-) BR /PP |
